March 28, 2012 5:21 PM

Alliance East Belfast representatives Naomi Long MP and Chris Lyttle MLA have welcomed the renaming of the Bridge End Railway Station as Titanic Quarter Station.

Naomi Long MP said: "This is an excellent idea to further commemorate the centenary of the Titanic.

"It will also improve the link between East Belfast and this station, which is a key gateway to the Titanic Quarter.

"I would like to commend the work of Translink as they play their part in the events that are taking place over the next few weeks."

Chris Lyttle MLA said: "Earlier this year Translink announced that they would be upgrading this station and by renaming it as well they are showing their commitment to public transport in East Belfast.

"I would encourage everybody to come to the some of the many events that are taking place over the next few weeks to commemorate the Titanic, to learn more about this magnificent vessel and where it was built."
