February 2, 2011 4:58 PM

CASTLEREAGH: CASTLEREAGH WEST: Cllr Sara DuncanCastlereagh West Alliance Councillor Sara Duncan has called on people to use dedicated bins at Trading Standards Offices to dispose of literature on scams. Her call comes at the start of the annual Scams Awarness Month.

Cllr Sara Duncan said: "So-called 'Scamnesty' bins have been provided in specific locations by the Office of Fair Trading to allow people to dispose of this type of literature.

"One of these bins is located at the Trading Standards Office at 176 Newtownbreda Road and I would encourage people to use this facility.

"It is shocking to hear that people in Northern Ireland are losing around £100million annually because of scams, and those involved in them must be brought to justice."
