Lo appalled after South Belfast shop is robbed twice in past week

December 2, 2010 4:11 PM

South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has expressed disgust at news that a shop on the Ormeau Road has been robbed twice in the past week. She said these incidents must draw politicians' attention again to the motion passed in the Assembly this week calling for measures to be considered to protect shopworkers here in the run-up to Christmas.

Anna Lo MLA said: "This is a horrifying catalogue of events. Only this week in the Assembly, a motion was unanimously passed calling for action to be considered to help protect shopworkers in the run up to Christmas. These despicable events highlight the need for the Executive to consider more measures to combat such problems.

"My thoughts are with the owners of this shop and the staff at this difficulty time. People in the area will be appalled at these incidents and I would appeal to anyone with information on them to contact police immediately."
