Larne Deputy Mayor stunned at brutal murder

November 3, 2008 1:00 PM

Larne Deputy Mayor Gerardine Mulvenna has expressed shock and disgust at the brutal murder of Kenneth Nicholl in the town on Saturday. He was found in an alleyway between Herbert Avenue and Waterloo Road and was believed to have been stabbed.

Cllr Gerardine Mulvenna: "I am totally stunned at this brutal murder. This is a terrible tragedy and my thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Nicholl.

"To think that the life of a young man was taken in this callous attack is simply horrific. This incident has sent shockwaves through the whole town.

"Police are treating Kenneth's death as suspicious and I would appeal to anyone with information on the attack to contact them immediately.

"Thugs who would carry out an act like this need to be taken off our streets and put behind bars in order to protect local people."
