Jones- Racist attack must stop now9.36.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 18th Jun 2009
Alliance East Belfast Councillor Mervyn Jones has condemned the latest attack on a Romanian family. On Wednesday night a window of a Romanian family's home was smashed on the Upper Newtownards Road in East Belfast. Cllr Jones said: "These attacks must stop now. We must never see these attacks again in Northern Ireland. It is another sickening attack carried out by a small minority who are intent on forcing these families out of their homes. "The people behind this attack do not represent the vast majority of people here who have been outraged by these crimes. "It is a deeply worrying trend that a Romanian family have been targeted in another part of the Belfast. "The Executive must act now in publishing the Cohesion, Sharing and Integration document to give the agencies involved a defined strategy to better protect people from racism." ENDS
