South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has branded as scandalous today's announcement that the Lisburn Road Post Office in South Belfast, saying she received a massive response to her residents' survey in her campaign to save the service.

Anna Lo MLA said: "It is scandalous that this post office is being closed. Alliance has had an overwhelming response from residents' in the survey we conducted on the issue. Local people will be devastated at this loss of the vital service.

"This was a strong, viable business and I am disgusted that it is going to be closed.

"In our survey, people were praising the staff and saying how good the service was. We presented a very strong case to save this post office and I am quite surprised that it has not been given a reprieve.

"A lot of businesses will suffer in the locality because of reduced footfall due to the closure, and I am also deeply concerned about this factor."
