Ford hails news that future of Parkhall Post Office is secure12.02.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 2nd Jun 2008
Alliance Leader David Ford has welcomed news that Parkhall Post Office in Antrim, which was under threat as part of a UK wide closure plan, has been saved by a campaign which he was part of. The South Antrim MLA said: "This is brilliant news for the community in Parkhall. This Post Office is a thriving business and is one which provides a vital service to people in the area. "It is the hub of the local community and I am glad to see that Post Office Ltd has finally come to their senses and decided to keep Parkhall open. "We built a very strong case for saving the business and this victory vindicates our campaign. Council staff, Councillors and local MLAs ran a tight campaign to stop this closure and I am very pleased that the right result has been delivered." ENDS
