Alliance Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy has welcome the £8.5 million extension being unveiled today by Ards-based John Huddleston Engineering, and said it proves rural companies can compete in the global market.

Alderman McCarthy stated: "This extension, creating rural employment and rural wealth, is to be commended and welcomed. New investment in areas such as the Ards Peninsula is good news for the area and proof that rural-based companies can compete.

"This is a dynamic, progressive company which has demonstrated its commitment to the area by basing itself locally and creating rural employment.

"This is an example of people getting on with the work, and providing to a world-wide market in a competitive industry.

"I wish the company every ongoing success."
