Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has praised the efforts of the police in stopping a car allegedly being driven erratically from Lisburn to Dunmurry this morning. Several police officers and a member of the public were injured in the incident.

Local MLA Trevor Lunn said: "This was a very shocking incident for local people, but it appears that police have averted a potential disaster on our roads. I want to take this opportunity to praise the bravery of the police officers involved. The police were trying to protect the public during this episode and they risked life and limb to do so.

"People must not think that they can get away with playing Grand Theft Auto with peoples lives. The police simply must crack down on wreckless drivers.

"It is deeply distressing that that a member of the public was hurt in today's incident. Some officers were also injured and my thoughts are with everyone involved."
