Belfast Alliance Councillor Mervyn Jones has hailed news of the creation of 75 jobs locally by Wombat and the £70 million boost for Bombardier. He said that this news was even more significant given that fact that the US Investment Conference is taking place this week.

Cllr Mervyn Jones said: "These developments are great news. Let's hope these boosts are a sign of things to come, with the US Investment Conference currently in full swing.

" Northern Ireland needs more high-value, high-skill jobs to reinvigorate the economy and maximise potential. We have a highly-skilled workforce and that is our main selling point.

"Wombat's 75 new financial jobs here are exactly the type of posts we want. Bombardier's £70 million investment in leading-edge aeronautical engineering will also be a massive boost to local people and the economy."
