Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA has told Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy to take a long look at himself following trouble at NI Water as this issue falls into his departmental remit. His comments come as media speculation mounts about NI Water following their £30 million finance shortfall error.

Opposition MLA Kieran McCarthy stated: "Conor Murphy needs to take a long look at himself and how he has handled NI Water's finance fiasco.

"He has been indecisive on this disgraceful shambles. Local people will have to foot the bill for this massive error and that is totally unacceptable.

"The Minister needs to show some leadership and initiative in order to stop local people being hit in the pocket for NI Water's error.

"Conor Murphy has done little to show the public that he has taken control of this situation. This is symptomatic of the Executive and their failure to tackle problems head-on. Confidence in this Executive is eroding by the day and we will continue to keep the pressure on them to deliver for local people."
