Lunn labels McCrea's comments hypocritical on school funding cuts1.15.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 1st May 2008
Alliance Education Spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has called Ulster Unionist MLA Basil McCrea's comments today over school funding cuts hypocritical. The issue was discussed in the Stormont Education Committee today. The opposition MLA stated: "These funding cuts are a disgrace. Basil McCrea however cannot say he is shocked and angered by them because he and his party voted for them. "Basil McCrea today expressed opposition to these cuts, but he and his party voted for the Budget. This behaviour is hypocritical and shows that Ulster Unionists are all over the place on education. "There have been numerous examples since the budget was agreed of politicians from government parties protesting about financial decisions which they voted for. Mr McCrea's comments are just another example of this type of 'primary school' politics." ENDS
