McCarthy shocked at Kircubbin fire10.01.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 2nd May 2008
Strangford Alliance MLA Kieran McCarthy has expressed shock at news of a fire at a building firm near Kircubbin. The overnight fire took place at McGimpsey and Kane's situated a mile outside Kircubbin on the Rureagh Road. Kieran McCarthy stated: "This will be massive setback to the company but I hope that they can carry on with their daily work despite what has happened. The firm employs many people and it plays an important role in the local economy. "The main offices appear to have been gutted and this must be totally devastating for everyone who works there. I want to sympathise with the owners and employees and I hope that this setback does not cause too much disruption to the work of the company. "The cause of this tragic incident is as yet unknown. I would call on anyone with information on the fire to contact the police so they can establish how it started." ENDS
