Lo condemns Ormeau Road knifepoint cash van robbery

South Belfast Alliance Anna Lo MLA has expressed disgust at a cash van robbery on the Ormeau Road today. The knifepoint robbery of the van which was making a delivery to the First Trust Bank on the road took place at 11.30am this morning.

Anna Lo MLA said "This is a deeply disturbing incident, made all the more traumatic by the fact that the robbery was made at knifepoint.

"It took place in broad daylight, on a busy shopping street. These facts illustrate the total disregard for the safety of the public shown by this thug.

"Given the time of day and the location of this incident, one can only hope that members of the public witnessed the robbery and can give the police the information they need to get this individual off our streets.

"This must have been a very harrowing experience for the security guards and my thoughts are with them. I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police immediately."
