Alliance Culture, Arts and Leisure Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has stated that the refusal of the GAA, IFA and Ulster Rugby to return to the Assembly Committee dealing with the all-sports stadium is a massive wake up-call for unionists trying to stall progress on the issue. He stated that if unionists keep behaving in this manner, the chance to have a world-class all-sports stadium will be lost for lifetime.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: "Some unionists are using disgraceful delaying tactics. I am glad that the IFA, GAA and Ulster Rugby have snubbed them. It's time that unionists got a grip and stopped playing tribal politics on the all-sports stadium.

"I welcome the fact that these sports organizations have declined the committee's invitation, as there is nothing new to say on the stadium issue at the moment. Why should precious time be wasted going over old ground?

"This is a massive wake up call to unionists. Lets hope the don't stall any longer on delivering a new all-sports stadium, because they may squander this golden opportunity altogether."
