Cochrane welcomes cash for new Ballybeen day centre12.10.00pm GMT Tue 11th Mar 2008
Castlereagh Alliance Councillor Judith Cochrane has hailed news of the provision of £1.4 million to help build a new £3.3 million day centre in Ballybeen. Health Minister Michael McGimpsey announced this funding and an additional £0.6 million as a part of the Enler Project, and the centre will provide 50 day care places for older people. Cllr Judith Cochrane said: "I am very pleased that this aspect of the project has finally been given the green light. "This new day care centre will provide a much-needed increase in the number of places available in a service which improves the everyday lives of older people. The people who will benefit from this new centre have worked hard all their lives and they deserve the best possible services in their retirement. "The Enler Project is vitally important to Ballybeen. The area has gone through some difficult times in the recent past with the loss of many jobs locally, and this cash boost provides a ray of light for the area. "We now need to see the speedy implementation of the Enler Project in full, in consultation with the local community to ensure their needs are met." ENDS
