Alliance Youth Chair hails Fairtrade Fortnight

1.03.00pm GMT Mon 25th Feb 2008

Alliance Youth Chair Stephen Martin today called on all young people to play a part in making this year's Fairtrade Fortnight (February 25th to March 7th) a huge success.

Stephen Martin commented: "Alliance Youth strongly supports the Fairtrade movement in their efforts to make the 2008 Fairtrade Fortnight bigger and better than ever before. The global fair trade movement today continues to press the case for changes in our international trading system to create better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.

"Local people have a huge role to play in making the Fairtrade choice when they purchase goods. Together we can help address some of the harsh realities of conventional international trade. Play your part and check out your local Fairtrade events over the next fortnight, and see what a difference our consumer choices can make."
