Alliance condemns Executive over delay revelation on national stadium5.28.00pm GMT Fri 18th Jan 2008
Alliance Culture Arts and Leisure Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has launched a stinging attack on the Executive for yet more delays, this time regarding the proposed all-sports stadium at the Maze. It has emerged that the Finance Minister Peter Robinson was supposed to receive the business case for the Maze stadium before Christmas but did not, because DCAL officials are still considering it. The Strangford MLA said: "Surprise surprise, another day another delay from the Executive. How long is the decision on the location of the new stadium going to take? "Irrespective of where the stadium is to be located, people are sick of this saga of walkouts, delays and scaremongering about plans for the Maze. "Any new stadium must be a shared space and provide world class facilities. Our sports and our supporters deserve the best. "One thing is for certain, people will be annoyed but not surprised that this Executive has given us yet another delay." ENDS
