Alliance Leader praises Griffin as best candidate for Dromore11.45.00am GMT Mon 14th Jan 2008
Alliance Leader David Ford has endorsed David Griffin as the best candidate for the forthcoming Dromore by-election. Mr Ford said that the election is about selecting the best person for Dromore, not about a sectarian headcount or a referendum on the St Andrews Agreement. David Ford said: "David Griffin is by far the best candidate for the Dromore area. He is a former vice-principal of Banbridge Academy and he was Vice-Chair of Banbridge District Policing Partnership. He knows the area and knows what local people want for Dromore. "David has ambition for Dromore. He has a vision to regenerate the town and capitalize on its historic past to maximize its tourism potential. "Other parties are trying to make this election into a futile referendum into the St Andrews Agreement. This election is not about jockeying for places in a sectarian headcount - It's about choosing the right person for everyone in Dromore. "When I visited Dromore to see David on Saturday I was struck with the massively positive response he is getting on the ground. Local people can see that David Griffin stands for a better and shared future for Dromore and the whole of Banbridge. "Working alongside Banbridge Alliance colleague, Cllr Frank McQuaid, David will deliver results for the whole community." ENDS
