McCarthy annoyed that local air travellers still suffer on travel conditions10.30.00am GMT Mon 7th Jan 2008
Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA has hit out at news that people travelling from Northern Ireland airports can still only carry one bag onto planes, yet in other UK airports passengers can carry two bags on board. Opposition MLA Kieran McCarthy said: ?Its time that this was sorted and people in Northern Ireland had the same travel conditions as the rest of the UK. Our local airports must get up to speed as quickly as possible. ?Why is there no uniform approach across all airports in the UK. The lack of change in this situation is a real blow for local travellers. ?Security considerations are extremely important, so how can a different approach be taken in other regions of the UK. If two bags are safe elsewhere, then why not here? ?We need answers on this because local air travellers deserve better.? ENDS
