South Antrim Alliance MLA David Ford has condemned the threat from dissidents to Newtownabbey Councillor Briege Meehan.

David Ford said: "Those who make such threats have no place in our community. What goes on in the minds of people who would indulge in these type of activities.

"All Councillors should be allowed to get on with their work free from threats or intimidation.

"Northern Ireland has left the dark days of violence behind it and such threats cannot and must not put back the progress made."
