Long appalled at East Belfast pensioners' robbery ordeals12.20.00pm GMT Wed 14th Nov 2007
Alliance East Belfast MLA Naomi Long has blasted those who robbed several pensioners around East Belfast yesterday evening. The robberies took place at Gilnahirk Road and Orangefield Lane. She appealed to older people to be vigilant and called on anyone with information to talk to police to protect other people from such incidents. Naomi Long MLA said: "What sort of person would subject older people to such a harrowing experience? These thugs need to be caught and taken off our streets as soon as possible. "I want to let the victims and their families know that my thoughts are with them after these traumatic incidents. I would also call on people to look out for their neighbours and be vigilant. "The whole community has nothing but contempt for those who would carry out such acts. I would appeal to anyone with information contact the police to help ensure that no one else has to suffer such incidents at the hands of these people." ENDS
