McCarthy saddened at Newtownards fire death

Strangford Alliance MLA Kieran McCarthy has expressed shock and sadness at the death of a woman in her thirties in a house fire in Newtownards. The fire took place just after 5.30pm last night in a house in Ilex Avenue on the Glen estate.

Ards Councillor, Mr McCarthy, said: "My thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died in this tragic fire. I wish to pass on my deepest condolences at this most difficult of times.

"The police must carry out a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this distressing incident.

"The whole community is shocked and saddened at this news of this woman's tragic death."
