Strangford Alliance MLA Kieran McCarthy has condemned those who smashed a number of windows at hotel in Portaferry. All the windows of the restaurant at the Narrows Hotel were smashed in the early hours of this morning.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: "I am appalled at the thoughtlessness of the thugs who carried out this damage. Behaviour like this does nothing but hurt our community.

"This sad incident comes the week before the Assembly is being give the chance to debate boosting tourism in Strangford. We should be preparing to look to a bright future for local tourism, not having to consider such attacks. Society in Northern Ireland has changed for the better and we must not let the very small minority of thugs hold us back.

"I would appeal to people with information on this incident to contact local police immediately."
