Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has called for a thorough investigation into a fire in a flat in Dunmurry which led to eight people being taking to hospital. The suspicious fire took place in a flat at Seymour Hill at 12.30am this morning. He also praised the bravery of police officers for their part in the rescue of a man from an adjacent flat. Six police officers and two other people were brought to hospital, and one man has been arrested following the fire.

Opposition MLA, Trevor Lunn stated: "I was shocked at the sinister nature of this fire. It is even more distressing because of the fact that six police officers and two other people were taken to hospital. There must be a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.

"I would like to take this opportunity to praise the bravery of the police involved in the rescue of a man from an adjacent flat.

"I would also appeal for anyone with information to contact police urgently to ensure that those involved in causing the fire can be brought to justice."
