Lunn welcomes new integrated schools4.53.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 3rd Sep 2007
Alliance Lagan Valley MLA Trevor Lunn has welcomed the opening of the new Rowandale Integrated Primary school in Moira. The School was one of two new integrated primary schools that opened their doors for the first time today to pupils, with the other being Kindle Controlled Integrated Primary School near Ballykinlar. The Lagan Valley MLA said: "This is great news that another integrated school has opened. "The Alliance Party has been long time champions of integrated education and we would like to wish the pupils at these new schools all the best at the beginning of their education. "This is good news but I would like to see more integrated schools being set up and I would call on the Minister for Education Caitríona Ruane to increase funding for these integrated schools. "The recent report complied by Deloitte showed that one and half billion pounds is being wasted on segregation every year. Increasing the number of integrated schools will put an end to this waste and it will make sure that public money is being used more efficiently." ENDS
