Following today's cross party visit to Hydebank Wood women's prison, the Alliance Party representative in the group, Councillor Sara Duncan has said that the visit was extremely useful.

The Castlereagh Councillor said: "Today's visit has been very useful. We have heard a lot about conditions in the prison and I would urge the government to keep an eye on this issue to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.

"I have previously been in contact with the prison's governor and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to visit the prison today.

"I would like to thank the prison staff for their time, and I look forward to being further involved on this issue."
