Alliance Portadown Representative Sean Hagan has condemned the horrifying armed robbery that took place at a filling station in Bridge Street yesterday at 6.00 in the morning. Two men took part in the robbery and were armed with a hammer and a screwdriver. During the robbery one of the men made the two member of staff hand over the money from the tills as well as a quantity of cigarettes.

Sean Hagan commented that: "This type of robbery is totally unacceptable in our society. There is never any justification for a crime such as this one.

"The members of staff who were present during the robbery were only doing their jobs but yet they were threatened with weapons, something that I am sure many people believe is appalling.

"I would urge anybody with any information to contact either the police. I am sure that everybody would agree that we must do more in our communities to make sure that such heinous crimes like this one do not happen."
