Castlereagh Alliance Councillor Geraldine Rice has expressed shock and disgust at news that a family of four was attacked whilst driving through Carryduff last night. The attack took place on the Hillsborough Road at 9pm last night, and a grandfather, mother and her teenage son were assaulted with a bottle.

Cllr Geraldine Rice, who is a member of Castlereagh Policing Partnership said: "I am absolutely appalled at this horrific attack on a family travelling through Carryduff.

"There is currently a problem regarding youths causing annoyance in area, and I have raised the issue continuously with police in recent times.

"I would however like to take this opportunity to commend local police on their quick and effective response, which saw two people being arrested.

"The local police officer has assured me that they are taking issue of anti-social behaviour and youths drinking in the vicinity very seriously."
