Alliance MLA Séan Neeson is hosting a meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Historic ships in Belfast this Wednesday and Thursday. This is the first time that the group has ever met in Belfast. Sean Neeson represents Northern Ireland on the committee.

The East Antrim Assembly Member said: "I am delighted that the committee is meeting in Belfast at an important time in the development of Northern Ireland's maritime heritage.

"On Wednesday, the committee will visit the schooner Result at Cultra, HMS Caroline and the Nomadic. The committee have already included the Result and HMS Caroline as part of the core collection of historic ships, and I hope that the Nomadic will also be included in the core collection.

"I am very pleased with the help that I have received from government departments in assisting the visit, and the main meeting will take place at the Manor House in the Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra."
