Device near Kings Hall is very sinister given that Balmoral Show starts today

10.04.43am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 16th May 2007

South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has hit out at thugs who planted a pipe bomb near the Kings Hall, where the Balmoral Show starts today. The bomb was discovered last night in a garden of the house on Balmoral Avenue in South Belfast.

Anna Lo MLA said: "I am disgusted at the type of people that would put a pipe bomb in someone's garden.

"This is a particularly sinister event considering the fact that the Balmoral Show is starting today at the Kings Hall, which is very close to this bomb find.

"I would like to take this opportunity to praise the bravery of the Army bomb disposal staff who dealt with the device quickly and safely last night.

"I would also call on anyone who has information on this incident to contact police immediately to help them catch the thugs who planted the device."
