Fitzpatrick sadness at death of boy in sea at Castlerock

Coleraine Alliance Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick has expressed sadness at the news that a 15 year-old boy has died in the sea off a beach in Castlerock and has passed on sympathy to the family and friends of Robert McMullan. Cllr Fitzpatrick stated that people should be mindful of the risks involved with sea activities to help avert further tragedies.

Cllr Barney Fitzpatrick said: "I am extremely saddened at the tragic death of Robert McMullan. My thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this most difficult of times.

"We have has a number of tragedies on local beaches in recent years - each one such a very sad and unnecessary loss of life.

"People must be mindful of the safety risks involved with activities at sea. If you are going out, you should make others aware of where you are going and what you are doing so that if any problems arise, the authorities can be alerted quickly."
