Alliance praises bravery of guards who tackled Stone

Alliance Party Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy has praised the staff who stopped Michael Stone from entering Parliament Buildings in November and congratulated them on being honoured for their bravery. Susan Porter and Peter Lachaundis' actions were recognised at a ceremony at Stormont today.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: "I am very glad that Susan and Peter have been honoured for their bravery last November.

"They put their lives on the line to protect everyone at Stormont and I am extremely pleased that their actions have been recognised.

"They displayed amazing courage in dealing with Michael Stone and helped avert a potentially devastating tragedy at Parliament Buildings."
