Alliance backs tourism cash boost and says we must protect attractions11.03.51am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 28th Mar 2007
North Antrim Alliance Representative Jayne Dunlop has welcomed news of a 10 million pound initiative to promote tourism on Causeway Coast and in the Glens of Antrim. This funding is part of a ten year, 50 million pound scheme for the area. Jayne Dunlop said: "I welcome this cash boost for tourism and hope it will help attract even more visitors to the area. "If we use this funding well, we can make Northern Ireland a real tourism hotspot because we have some of the most spectacular countryside and coastlines in Europe. "We must however to do more to protect our natural resources and tourist attractions. Without doubt the Giant's Causeway is the biggest attraction we have for tourists and it is famous worldwide. This cash will let us promote other important sites in the area to help bring in even more visitors. "Our Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy, is leading a long-standing campaign to save coastline in Ards from being sold to developers, and Alliance is determined to ensure that the future of all our coastal areas in Northern Ireland can be safeguarded."
