Antrim Alliance Councillor Alan Lawther has expressed disgust at news that a family in Antrim was last night robbed at gunpoint. The robbery took place yesterday at around 21.30 in the Cedars area of Antrim.

Cllr Alan Lawther stated: "I am very shocked at this incident. The fact that the family were robbed at gunpoint illustrates the serious intent of the perpetrators.

"This must have been an extremely traumatic incident for the family.

"The safety of local people is of paramount importance and I would appeal to anyone with information on this robbery to contact police immediately, to help ensure that the perpetrators can be brought to justice."
