East Antrim Alliance Candidate Stewart Dickson

Alliance Environment Spokesperson Stewart Dickson stated that if the Assembly commits to making green issues a priority, Northern Ireland can become a world leader in environmental protection and can set an example for other regions to follow.

The East Antrim Alliance candidate said: "Northern Ireland could be a best practice model for recycling and the environment.

"With a functioning Assembly, Northern Ireland will have the opportunity to be a European model for recycling and renewable energy.

"If the Assembly committed to innovative recycling projects and the promotion of alternative energy sources we can be an example to other regions. We must also encourage and promote the dedicated research from our two world class universities on environmental protection.

"If the Assembly commits to doing this, Northern Ireland has the opportunity to be one of the leading lights in Europe on green issues."
