Time to fill your recycling bin with festive trimmings11.31.08am GMT Thu 4th Jan 2007
Alliance is encouraging people across Northern Ireland to recycle their Christmas waste, now that we are at the end of the festive period. Alliance Environment Spokesperson Stewart Dickson has asked people to help the environment by recycling their old Christmas trees, cards, wrapping paper and present boxes. Carrickfergus Councillor Stewart Dickson said: "I would urge people to go green at Christmas and maintain their new year's resolution to recycle as much as possible. "Now that Christmas is over, I want encourage the people of Northern Ireland to recycle their Christmas cards, old Christmas trees, wrapping paper and present boxes. "The new year is always a time for good intentions so lets make recycling a key priority and make this good intention a year-round practice. "By recycling more waste, people not only help protect the environment but they also help cut their rates bills. The more that is recycled, the less that goes into landfill, and less landfill means less cost to local taxpayers." ENDS
