Alliance Party Justice Spokesperson, Stephen Farry, has welcomed a report published today by Healing Through Remembering, entitled "Making Peace with the Past: Options for truth recovery regarding the conflict in and about Northern Ireland."

Dr Farry stated:

"This report is an important contribution to a critical conversation that must take place. The Alliance Party firmly believes that in order to build a shared future, Northern Ireland must come to terms with its past.

"Recently, Alliance tabled proposals with the British and Irish Governments regarding the appointment of an international commission to examine the best approach to addressing the past and its legacy.

"Our suggestion looks at process of discovering the most effective way forward, while this report considers a number of the options for truth recovery. We look forward to engaging with Healing Through Remembering on our mutual suggestions."
