Castlereagh Alliance Councillor, Sara Duncan, has welcomed the announcement of a 1.5 million pound funding package for the Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB). The announcement was made by Minister David Hanson, and it will allow the CAB to expand its range of services for the public.

Cllr Sara Duncan said: "I welcome this significant funding package which will allow CAB to plan for the next three years.

"As a volunteer in CAB, I am aware of the need for free, accurate advice for all. The CAB provides valuable advice on social security benefits, housing and numerous debt related problems.

"The office in which I volunteer helps many citizens from other EU countries who have come to work in N. Ireland and need help completing forms and understanding their rights.

"Without CAB, many people would not be able to talk about their overwhelming difficulties and meet a sympathetic, trained adviser to help them."
