No need to compound talks problems by taking them outside NI - Ford10.18.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 13th Sep 2006
Alliance Party Leader David Ford has said there is no need to compound the apparent difficulties setting up intensive talks by taking them outside Northern Ireland. David Ford stated: "It is increasingly apparent there are difficulties in matching diaries so that both Governments and all parties can participate. So why compound the problems by having to fork out public money setting up and switching accommodation? Why waste time arranging flights for party delegations? "The talks are essential to the future of Northern Ireland, and there is no reason they should not take place in Northern Ireland. There can be no further delay to progress, nor should any excuse be offered for people not to take part. "The Government should state a suitable date, and tell us which building within the Stormont Estate it wishes to use." ENDS
