Antrim Alliance Councillor Alan Lawther has condemned the robbery of a postman at gunpoint in Crumlin in County Antrim. The robbery took place just before 9am today on the Ballynadrentagh Road in Crumlin. A Royal Mail employee was taken to hospital following the incident.

Cllr Alan Lawther said: "I am disgusted by this robbery. It is disgraceful that a Royal Mail employee cannot go about their daily work without the threat of robbery and violence.

"The fact that a gun was used in this incident shows the force that those who carried out the crime were prepared to use to achieve their aim.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the robbery to contact police immediately."
