Alliance Party Vice Chair Michael Long has said there is no excuse for employees not receiving the full minimum wage - and repeated his call for equalization of the figure received by young people.

The Castlereagh Councillor stated: "There is no excuse at all for employees not being paid what they are due. This is an important regulation to ensure people can earn a fair living.

"Not only should all employees receive the minimum wage they are due, but all employees should receive the same minimum regardless of age.

"It simply makes no sense for any age differential to apply. If people are doing the work, they should be paid for it. Government must find a way to equalize the minimum wage for everyone, regardless of how old they are."
