Laganbank Alliance Party Representative, Allan Leonard, has slammed those that carried out a robbery on a bank security van at the Ulster Bank on the Ormeau Road this morning. A security guard was injured in the robbery which took place at 1100 BST today.

Allan Leonard stated: "I strongly condemn this robbery and am appalled that a security guard was hurt in the incident.

"The Ormeau Road is a busy commercial area and this robbery will unfortunately have damaged the good image of the area and the confidence of local residents.

"It is very sinister that the incident took place in the daytime, as there would have been a high level of pedestrians and traffic in the area at the time.

"Given that the robbery took place in broad daylight, I would call on anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police immediately."
