Alliance Party Leader, David Ford, has welcomed the reduced level of tension in the days leading up to the 12 July.

Cllr Ford MLA said: "I welcome the significant progress made in reducing bonfire nuisance and reducing the quantity of material on some bonfires.

"In a number of areas, steps forward have been made to try and ensure that the coming days pass peacefully. This progress allows people to celebrate without causing offence.

"If people continue to act responsibly, there is a good chance that the next few days will remain peaceful."
