SS Nomadic to return to Belfast

Alliance Assembly Member, Sean Neeson, will attend a meeting of the National Historic Ships Committee tomorrow [12 July] at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, where he will be reporting on the return of the SS Nomadic to Belfast.

Mr Neeson said, "I will be urging the committee to consider the Nomadic for inclusion on the list of the core collection of National Historic Ships. Such a listing could make the Nomadic eligible for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

"I strongly believe that the return of the Nomadic could well be the catalyst to developing a Northern Ireland maritime museum in the Titanic Quarter."

NOTES

The Belfast-built SS Nomadic served as a servicing ship for the Titanic.

Sean Neeson represents Northern Ireland on the UK National Historic Ships Committee.
