Young Alliance meets Young European Liberals in Brussels10.30.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 7th Jul 2006
Young Alliance Chair, Cllr Ian Parsley, has met officers of European Liberal Youth in Brussels to discuss best practice in cross-border political development. The North Down Councillor stated: "All too often on the island of Ireland we treat cross-border co-operation as if it is unique to ourselves. "In fact there is much to learn from best practice elsewhere in Europe. Specifically we discussed policies based on bringing down barriers to cross-border co-operation rather than increasing bureaucracy to try to enforce it. "The Alliance Party youth wing rejoined European Liberal Youth earlier this year precisely to enable this kind of positive political exchange." ENDS
