Alliance to play positive role -- horrified at others' refusal to do likewise1.54.53pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 15th May 2006
Alliance Leader David Ford has said Alliance is entering the Assembly to be positive and constructive -- and condemned others' failure to do likewise. Speaking at the end of the first session of the Assembly for over two years, David Ford stated: "The Alliance Group has entered the Assembly to play a positive and constructive role in restoring full devolution as soon as possible. "However, we are horrified at others' failure to do likewise. Ulster Unionist double standards on paramilitary activity will have shocked 'decent people' to the core. "What we are here to achieve is democracy for Northern Ireland, and Government free from paramilitary interference -- no matter what the source." ENDS Alliance Press Office: 07753-355495
