Community shocked by triple road death

6.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 15th Apr 2006

Castlereagh Alliance Councillor Michael Long has said people are shocked by the loss of three more young lives on the roads, after three teenagers, including twin brothers, were killed in a late-night road crash on the Ballygowan Road in East Belfast.

Councillor Long stated: "This is another appalling example of how dangerous our roads are. Again two families have been left mourning people who had everything to live for. My condolences go out to them at this tragic time.

"The suddenness of such tragedies is something which strikes the circle of friends and the wider community particularly hard. Three more people with their lives ahead of them have been taken from us unnecessarily.

"I would plead with drivers over the Easter weekend to take extra care during the holiday period. The roads are a dangerous place to be, and we owe it to ourselves and each other to keep them safe."
