Blair receptive to Alliance proposals

Alliance Leader David Ford has said the meeting of his party and the Prime Minister in London was constructive, and said the UK Government is clearly receptive to Alliance ideas.

David Ford said: "We expressed the need for a fully inclusive process if public confidence is to be restored.

"The Prime Minister was clearly receptive to our focus on a shared future, and specifically took note of our line on the promotion of integrated education and an all-party economic forum.

"There is a clear understanding that we cannot simply repeat the same old mistakes - it is now up to other parties to demonstrate a commitment to change."
