Attacks on people serving our community "utterly wrong" - McCarthy

5.07.00pm GMT Thu 23rd Feb 2006

Alliance Party Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has hit out at the culprits of an apparent racial attack in Dundonald, saying their actions are simply unexcusable and calling for people with information to contact the police immediately.

Alderman McCarthy, Assembly member for the area, stated: "The victims of racial attacks such as this one are the very people our community should be most proud of, as they are diligent in their service to the entire community.

"It is totally unacceptable that a family should be attacked in this way at any time, but particularly when it is simply done in reference to their skin colour.

"Anyone with information about this must go to the police immediately and ensure the culprits do not get away with it.

"Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the Anti-Racism Network with which my party has long been associated, this just illustrates how far we have to go as a society."
